As we are most unlikely to go back to msia for a holiday this summer, I plan to visit more places i Riyadh. However as it is too hot to visit the desert or the zoo, my targets would be shopping malls in Riyadh. Heh..heh....interesting huh!
So last week we actually went to Kingdom Tower, the tallest building in Riyadh, maybe in Saudi too. As you will notice later in the pictures, saudi does not have many skyscappers like other cities...so the tower is a main tourist attraction even among the local people. Kingdom Tower has 99th floor. To get to the top, first we had to take the lift to 77th floor, then change the lift to go up to 99th floor which is the sky bridge.
Extending 65 meter in length, the Sky Bridge which is a steel structure weighting about 300 tons sits on top of the 300 meter height tower, rising 918 meter above sea level and overlooking the whole of Riyadh, its unique position gave it the advantage of being one of the most important attraction point for tourism in KSA.
The trip to the sky bridge passes through two elevators, first elevator will take about 50 seconds to reach the height of 180 meter to the Transfer level, and second elevator will take less than 40 seconds to reach its final destination the Sky Bridge.
Unfortunately the day we went up there , it was hazy so we couldn't realy took clear pictures of the view. Usualy it becomes hazy when there is a sand storm in the desert.Frust jugak....Anyway it was a wonderful experience jus being up there, enjoying the view for miles and miles away....
On the ground floor, they call it Al Mamlaka,reminds me of Suria KLCC. Two anchor tenants are Saks Fifth Avenue and Debenhams. Most shops are designer boutiques such as D&G, Coach, Aigner,Emporio Armani etc etc...which we all rasa segan nak masuk coz we know sure tak kena layan punya!
Al Mamlaka also host Ladies only floor (2nd floor) Here, ladies can put aside their arbayas and tudung and walk freely as no men are allowed. It is fully managed by females and contains over 40 stores. There are a lot of cafes too for the ladies to lepak with their friends. It was a weird feeling to see ladies wearing normal and colorful clothes with their hair down coz all this while it has alwiz been all black for us!(I'm sure most guys are wishing they can sneak up there to see arabs chics! ha..ha...)

Seems to me that the streets in Riyadh are straight and cross at right angles, like the cities in US.
99 floors huh? Taller than Petronas Twin Towers ke? Pity it was a hazy day otherwise we could have seen the great views.
