Summary Syawal @ Riyadh 1429

It has been 18 days since 1st of syawal, therefore I hope my short summary on our syawal celebration here belum 'basi' lagi :-)

Gotta admit, of late I have been spending my time in facebook, uploading raya pics, commenting and tagging pics etc etc...sampai ter-ignore my beloved blog here.

Alhamdulilah, our second year celebrating syawal here tetap meriah and meaningful. Kemeriahan Hari raya terasa seperti di msia except minus our families and relatives.
We didnt miss the usual raya dishes coz semuanya ada! This year we also had takbir raya session on the night before Eid, at arina's house, so amat terasa ke syahduan 1 syawal.

1st Syawal
This is the first time we got to celebrate pagi raya at the Malaysian Embassy in Riyadh. It was a simple celebration, yet makes us feel at home with the raya dishes like rendang, satay and lagu raya yang tak berhenti berkumandang. Off course another thing that makes you feel like you are in msia was to see friends in their colorful baju melayu and baju kurung minus the arbaya!





2nd Syawal
On second day of Syawal,we joined with two other friends, Arina and Ayu and held an open house.As our apartment is very the comel, venue is at Arina's house. We estimated there will be about 150++ guests. I prepared rendang ayam, kurma daging, kuah kacang and nasi minyak. Arina and ayu prepared almost 1000 cucuck of satay! Mlm raya we all beramai ramai tolong arina cucuk satay sambil bertakbir. For all of us , it was our first experience cucuk satay, selalu order and makan je! Other dishes prpared by arina and ayu were lontong, mee rebus, nasi himpit and of course kuih and biskut raya. Alhamdulilah ramai kawan kawan yang datang and it was a success. I bet our families would sure be amazed to know that we managed to cook all the dishes by ourselves (without maid mind you!) and managed to host an event like that. Kalau kat msia, sure catering je!!







3rd and 4th Syawal
We decided to hit the beaches during the raya hols. Here most companies are off for 2weeksfor Eid. Cuti raya for govt is 3 weeks! Hebatkan? Unfortunately lan dapat cuti 2days je. Uhuks! Fortunately dapat jugak we all bawak our kids to the northern region-Dammam, Jubail and Al Khobar. These places are famous for the beaches. It was only a 4hrs drive from Riyadh and we went with Arina/Zainal and masetura/LJ families. The kids had super fantastic time and I luv Jubail!! It has a beautiful and clean beach. Rasa peaceful sangat. We all took our sweet time, lepaking at the beach and on the second day, picniking at Al Khobar corniche (waterfront). we will definitely go there again soon!






5th syawal
Life is back to normal.... I have gained like 2 kilos, hu hu....thks to moreh during ramadan and raya open house gatherings. Gotta start exercising! Am trying to get hubby to buy me a threadmill ;-)
