For Abah

The fact that today is Father's day, my memories seemed to drift to those day when I was a little girl and when I had Abah around. The truth is since my early teens, my parents were separated and  I practically grew up without a father figure. I only saw Abah once in a while during raya and some occasions. Abah passed away in 1995.

Most of my memories with him was when I was a little girl...and those were the good times. Today, I want to thank him for bringing me to this world and ....
  • for those happy moments when Abah used to bring me and my sister to the playground at the beach
  • for his funny 'jungle stories' that Abah used to tell us before we went to sleep.
  • for the laughter in the house whenever he spoke his broken BM (Abah was a pakistani and altho he has been a malaysian since he was 18 years old, he still has a funny slang whenever he speaks BM)
  • for being a great cook. My house was famous during raya times coz our friends and relatives would come to sample his famous nasi beriani
  • for buying us toys that made us so happy
  • for making his kaw kaw teh tarik for me in the afternoon
  • for those picnics we had in Tanjung Bungah and Taiping
  • for my nick name - nurie.
Semoga Allah mencucuri rahmatNya ke atas roh Abah. Amin!

Did you inherit his nasi beriani skills? If yes, I sure would like to taste some...

Unfortunately or as you may guess (hehehe) I never cooked nasi beriani my entire life. Bought few beriani spices but never use them till they expired! I pandai masak nasi minyak je! ;D
